Say hello to Muteking, the Dashing Warrior! Twelve-year-old roller-skating fiend Rin Yuki was just about the only person who didn’t think his scientist father was crazy for predicting Earth’s imminent invasion from outer space. After meeting Takoro, a young cop from another planet who was pursuing a (small) gang of interstellar criminals bent on destroying Earth (and it should be noted that both Takoro and the would-be invaders are small, cute octopuses), Rin becomes personally involved in the battle to save our fair planet when he transforms (thanks to Takoro spitting on him… no, really…) into the mighty hero Muteking! This show was another of the light-hearted and colorful anime produced by Tatsunoko in the early 1980s. Really, how can you not love a show where the hero sings his own theme song? That’s exactly what Muteking is doing here, belting out his trademark song with gusto during his first appearance, with his starry cape swirling magnificently around him.
